Making homemade paella does not have to be complicated or intimidating. This is an easy seafood paella that is made with shrimp and mussels and comes together in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Step 1 – Heat oil in a deep, heavy skillet or paella pan over medium-high heat.

Step 2 – Add onion, cook, add garlic and bell pepper to skillet with paprika, salt, and pepper. Sauté until onions are translucent.

Steps 3-4 – Stir in rice for 1 minute to slightly toast. – Add broth and bring to a rolling boil, uncovered.

Step 5 – Reduce heat and simmer, cover with aluminum foil and cook. Stir in shrimp, mussels, jalapeño, and cilantro and cover. Cook until shrimp is cooked and mussels open.

Steps 6-7 – Let rest, covered until all of the liquid is absorbed. – Serve with lemon wedges.
