TOTAL TIME: 35 min

– olive oil – long-grain rice – chopped yellow onion – garlic, chopped, or 1 teaspoon garlic powder – water and 1 cup unsalted chicken broth, fresh or packaged – tomato sauce – tomato or chicken bouillon cube

Ingredients

Step 1 – Heat oil in a medium skillet over medium heat and add rice. Stir until rice is slightly browned. Stir until onions are translucent.

Step 2 – Add water, chicken broth, if using, tomato sauce, bouillon cube. Stir and let mixture come to a boil; lower heat, cover, and simmer. Stir gently, cover, and let simmer.

Step 3 – After the final 10 minutes of cooking, turn heat off, fluff rice with a fork and cover again.
