With fall fast approaching, I’m getting excited about all of my autumnal favorites. The classic fruit and spice pairing in my Mexican Cinnamon Apple Oatmeal (a.k.a. Avena con Canela y Manzana) is an ideal flavor combo to help start the morning.

– water– cinnamon sticks– cloves– salt– Quaker Old Fashioned Oats– whole milk– large crisp sweet apples- Tap to see more ...
Step 1 – Bring water, cinnamon sticks, and cloves to a boil in a saucepan. Remove from heat, cover and let steep. Discard the cinnamon sticks and cloves.
Steps 2-3 – Add salt and oats to the cinnamon tea and bring to a boil, uncovered. Lower heat and simmer, stirring frequently to prevent sticking.
– Add milk and simmer until creamy.
