Muy Bueno Featured in Latina Magazine
Check out the bottom right hand corner of this magazine cover – “Latino Comfort Food”. Those are some of our treasured recipes that have been published in Latina Magazine. We are honored beyond belief to say the least, and excited to share the news with you our fans. Latina Magazine asked us to submit some of our family recipes traditionally eaten in April. The first thing that came to mind was Lent Fridays at Grandma’s house. If you knew our grandma, you know that every Friday was enchiladas coloradas (red enchilada) day.
Our family prefers our enchiladas montadas (stacked) but not all of our family members like their enchiladas with an egg on top. When I was a young girl I would watch my uncle Carlos eat his enchiladas with an egg on top and I finally had the courage to ask him if I could have a taste. It was love at first bite and I never turned back. The yummy yolk running down the stack of enchiladas gives this dish a unique flavor.
We have never released the recipe for our grandma’s chile colorado (red chile sauce) until now. Our enchiladas, frijoles de la olla (pot of pinto beans), and michelada recipes are all featured in Latina Magazine in the April 2011 edition. It’s all quite surreal, but we’d like to thank Latina Magazine for taking the time to recognize our efforts and honor our grandmother and her cooking in such a prestigious fashion. Muchas gracias Latina Magazine!!
The magazine is out on newsstands now with their gorgeous photography and styling of our recipes. Please pick up a copy and try the recipes, we look forward to hearing from you!

I like your article
Congratulations on the article. What great photos and a lovely tribute to family. Oh–and the recipes on your Facebook look great! Now I have to search for the Latina magazine.
How fun. Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog. I’m glad I was directed to yours.
I wrote an article (not food related) on the February issue of Latina Magazine. We missed each other by a couple month. Bummer 🙂
Thank you Damaris! Latina Magazine is AWESOME — So glad there is a publication that celebrates the culture of Latina women in the United States. I’d LOVE to see your article. Is it on your blog?
Felicidades! You are so deserving of this recognition!
Kathleen

Thank you sweetlife!
Great news, congrats. Lovely recipes on the site and I love the family photos.
Thank you so much!!! Means a lot coming from the Food and Spirit Guide. FUN name 😉
Congrats on the article! What a great feature for you guys!!!!!
Gracias Joe!!! It’s been very exciting and a bit surreal! Usually a magazine publishes recipes written by professional chefs or published cookbook author ONLY. So for them to believe in our project is HUGE for us and we couldn’t be happier!
