Easter Brunch Recipes in Latina Magazine
In November my mom and I were invited to sign Muy Bueno hardcover cookbooks at the grand opening weekend of the new Barnes & Noble in El Paso, and we were also invited to be on KVIA ABC to share holiday desserts. We were quite busy cooking treats in preparation for the book signings and the news segment as well as prepping for Thanksgiving. As you can imagine we spent some serious quality time in the kitchen together.
And then, I received an exciting email… Latina magazine asked me to be their featured chef and wanted me to develop Easter brunch recipes for their April issue. There was no way I was going to say no to that! I was exhausted, but I put on my thinking cap, rolled up my sleeves, got back in the kitchen, tested recipes, and created an Easter brunch menu with Latin sabor.
I am excited to announce that the April 2014 issue is available on newsstands now. In this issue you will see a recipe for a gorgeous Rustic Mango and Strawberry Galette, a crowd-pleasing Ham and Sweet Potato Hash, and sweet and spicy Mini Empanadas with Apricot Jalapeño Jam and Cream Cheese. I am beyond thrilled to see my recipes made, styled, and photographed by their talented team.
Visit thelatinkitchen.com/brunch and go behind the scenes of their April photo shoot for more recipes for Lent, Easter tablescapes, and you can even read this interview: At the Table with…Yvette Marquez-Sharpnack.
On thelatinkitchen.com you will also find a couple additional recipes that I developed such as a spicy Potato, Zucchini and Green Chile Gratin and a deliciously deadly Bloody Maria with Serrano Infused Tequila. I’m looking forward to Easter and recreating this entire menu in my home.
Speaking of thelatinkitchen.com you will soon find me writing how-to, kid-friendly articles. I will more than likely share that announcement on facebook when my first article is published, so please stay tuned.
If you have been following this blog since the beginning you might remember the April 2011 Latina magazine with Muy Bueno recipes. I’m very proud of that issue and honored by the continued support of Latina magazine.

Yvette – I’m going to get the Latina magazine tomorrow! There are just too many recipes that I cannot wait to make. I think I’ll start off with the galette and empanadas – they sound heavenly.
Gracias for the support Lola. I’m excited to make galette and empanadas again too 😉
How fabulous, Yvette! It must be a wonderful feeling to see your creations in this magazine. The recipes sound great and the food looks beautiful. Congratulations!
Thanks Holly! As you can imagine I’m quite excited about it. I grew up reading Latina magazine and now to be published in it is pretty darn cool 😉
Enjoy reading your Blog but it is very difficult to save recipes as there are too many steps involved in order to copy/paste the recipes for future preparation. Perhaps I am doing something wrong….
Great Blog otherwise!
Hi Jorge,
This specific blog post is a tad different. Most of these recipes are in the printed Latina magazine and on http://thelatinkitchen.com/slideshow/behind-scenes-april
All other Muy Bueno blog posts usually have a save/print feature with recipe. Sorry for the confusion.
Keep in touch.
Congratulations! The pictures are gorgeous, and the recipes sound heavenly!
Thank you Barbara. Latina magazine photographed these photos so beautifully.
Outstanding. And good for you! Your recipes are incredible and I’m thinking that your Easter Brunch ideas sound really good to me!
Thank you Debra! I’m really excited to make them again over Easter.
