Spicy Cucumber Jalapeño Margarita
It’s 5 o’clock somewhere, and this Spicy Cucumber Jalapeño Margarita is the perfect way to celebrate happy hour in style. Cool, refreshing cucumber meets spicy jalapeño with a kick of tequila blanco for a delightful way to end the day.
This cucumber jalapeño margarita is spicy, refreshing, and perfectly delcious. It’s sure to soften the edges of any day!
Why I Love This Recipe
The first time I ever had a cucumber margarita was during a family dinner at a fantastic restaurant called Crave in El Paso. It was one of those rare moments where we sat, ate, and drank while catching up on family chisme (“gossip”). The time went by way too quickly, and after the year we’ve had, I’ve found myself reflecting on that night time and again.
This invigorating cucumber jalapeño margarita is a recipe that I’ve come up with to re-create that perfect summer evening I spent with my family those many years ago. It has all the cool, crisp notes of fresh cucumber, but I stepped it up with a touch of heat from fresh jalapeños.
I also opted to use Exotico Tequila’s delicious Tequila Blanco for this margarita because it has the perfect flavor profile. Exotico’s blanco has a crisp, herbal aroma with spicy undertones. It starts with an herbaceous bouquet and finishes with a fresh wave of heat followed by a balanced spice, making it an ideal tequila for making this spicy cucumber margarita!
Exotico’s tequila is a premium quality, un-aged 100% Blue Agave tequila produced in the highlands of Jalisco. I always recommend reaching for the best, 100% agave tequila you can find, and Exotico is simply a steal for the price point.
Now go grab your cocktail shaker and meet me on the patio! It’s time to whip up this delicious, 5-minute cucumber jalapeño margarita.
Salud!

In a cocktail shaker, add cucumber slices, lime slices, lime juice, jalapeño slices, and sugar. Muddle together, squashing everything to release the juices. Add tequila and orange liqueur.
Fill the cocktail shaker with ice and shake until combined, about 15 to 20 seconds.
TIP: The longer you shake, the spicier it will become! If you don’t have a high tolerance for heat, I recommend removing the seeds and membranes from the jalapeño slices prior to shaking.
Strain into an ice-filled rocks glass. Garnish as desired with cucumbers and mint, if desired. Enjoy!
Frequently Asked Questions
If you are following the shaker method listed below, I don’t recommend making more than two margaritas at a time. The shaker won’t have enough space to do its job otherwise!
That said, you can very easily make a large batch of the tequila, orange liqueur, and lime juice ahead of time. When it’s time for a refill, simply pour the mix into an ice filled shaker, add your cucumber, pepper, and sugar and shake like the dickens!
Make a batch of agua fresca de pepino and add 2 cups of tequila and 1 cup of Cointreau and float slices of jalapeño. You won’t have the muddled action, but all the flavor profiles will be there.
