Dessert Taco Shells
Bake a batch of sweet tortilla shells and set out a dessert taco bar! These sweet tacos make a great snack or dessert.
These sweet and crispy taco shells are easy to make and so fun to fill. Similar in flavor to crunchy buñuelos, but baked instead of fried and shaped into a taco for easy filling. My kiddos and hubby loved these and I promise your family will too.
How to make dessert taco shells
Preheat oven to 400°F.
Stir together sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl and set aside.
Brush olive oil evenly on both sides of mini flour tortillas.
To assemble the shells, flip over a muffin pan and arrange the shells so they are resting between each cup.
Bake tortillas in preheated oven until tortillas are lightly browned, about 15 to 20 minutes.
Sprinkle shells with cinnamon sugar mixture while warm.
Fill with desired filling, toppings, and garnishes.
Dessert Taco Fillings
If you need a few ideas to fill your dessert taco shells try this apple pie filling, chopped mango with orange liqueur, pineapple empanada filling, or roasted berries.
Let your imagination go wild and just have fun. Simple yogurt, sliced fruit, ice cream, dulce de leche, whipped cream, chocolate syrup, sprinkles, and nuts, would all be simple and yummy fillings, toppings, and garnishes.
Head over to the California Strawberry blog to find my recipe for Strawberry Dessert Tacos.
Sweet and crispy taco shells dusted with cinnamon-sugar and dolloped with a sweet avocado vanilla yogurt studded with chopped strawberries to resemble “guacamole”. And then filled with tropical and colorful fruits and berries and garnished with coconut flakes to resemble “cheese”.
