In my opinion, summer is made for enjoying refreshing drinks while hanging with your loved ones. This delightful strawberry infused sweet fruit tea is not only yummy and hydrating, it also boasts just the right amount of caffeine.
Why I Love This Recipe
You all know how much I love aguas frescas, right? Well, this delightful drink is basically equal parts strawberry agua fresca and southern sweet tea. Thatโs to say, it is ADDICTIVELY DELICIOUS.
Unlike bottled sweet teas you can purchase at the store, this homemade fruit tea is sweetened with fresh berries and just a touch of cane sugar for a beverage you can feel good about serving to the family.
NOTE: Avoiding refined sugar? Feel free to swap in honey, agave syrup, monkfruit, or stevia instead.
Making your own iced tea is also super easy, meaning a refreshing glass of goodness is never far from your reach. And since this recipe is homemade, you can adjust the caffeine content to your liking.
Black tea will pack the most punch; green tea offers a lovely nutty flavor with a lower caffeine buzz; or swap in some decaf black or green tea to keep the kids from bouncing off the walls!
How to Make Strawberry Fruit Tea
In a small pot, bring water to a boil. Remove from heat and add tea bags. Let tea steep for 10 minutes, then discard the tea bags. Let cool.
TIP: Want to exercise more of your southern muscles? Toss those teabags into your garden compost; they are great for increasing the oxygen and nutrient content of your โblack gold.โ
Meanwhile, place the strawberries in a blender and puree. Strain into a pitcher. Stir in the tea, sugar, and lemon juice until sugar is dissolved. Taste and add more sugar, if you wish.
Serve in glasses over ice. Garnish with lemon slices and berries. Toast your friends and enjoy!
Frequently Asked Questions
Sure! This fruit infused sweet tea will last for up to three days in the fridge.
It sure wouldnโt be Southern if it werenโt, LOL! While you know Iโm a dedicated tequila aficionado, this particular tea is best spiked with a bit of bourbon. Salud!
No problem at all! There are tons of decaf versions of both black or green tea on the market. Alternately, you can swap in flor de jamaica (dried hibiscus flowers) instead – itโll double down on the beautiful red color and add a nice bit of tartness to make a tea similar to agua de jamaica with strawberries.
Sure thing! If fresh strawberries are in short supply, reach for a bag of frozen. Simply allow them to defrost before blending and straining.
